Situation Analysis

US-based Telcom Mavenir sought an agency in SE Asia to reach out to regional media with one point of contact.

The was aim to introduce Mavenir and 5G technology.

This was achieved through a focused and strategic communications outreach programme, targeting key stakeholders, in SEA with focusing on Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

EASTWEST has secured a total of 55 pieces of coverage across the region from the press release distribution, twelve (12) coverage from Thailand, thirty-three (33) pieces of coverage from Indonesia and ten (10) pieces of coverage from the rest of the other countries in this part of the region.

The Brief

Mavenir had a big campaign that kicked off in March with their local Thailand partner, 5GCT. They had showcased the 5G Smart City and had a launch event with 200 invited guests. Mavenir is looking to leverage this launch event and 5G Smart City at Ban Chang, to build brand awareness across APAC.

The Approach

  • EASTWEST arranged and facilitated a virtual media briefing (with 17 media attendees) for Mavenir’ s spokespeople.
  • EASTWEST translated and disseminated a press release (into Thai and Bahasa Melayu) in South-East Asia, focusing on Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
  • EASTWEST provided the media attendees with the transcript of the event and summarized the key highlights, translated them into local languages local media, and followed up to ensure coverage.

Results Achieved

The session ran on time, the technical aspects were well managed, and all the spokespeople delivered the key messages well. Media who attended the event had feedback that the session became more interesting with the delivery of several case studies by Ben Patullo. And the video screening on the session played smoothly to help to illustrate the points that the spokesperson wanted to deliver on the presentation.

EASTWEST has also successfully reached out to a total of twenty (20) media from this part of the region to do RSVP before the event. However, due to some unforeseen and uncontrollable issues (electricity break out in few places), the final number of attendees to the webinar event was seventeen (17) media from seventeen (17) media outlets.
