My View on Providing Value-Added PR Services

Written by Jie Ann Working as a PR consultant, to be honest, is quite busy and is usually under great pressure. What a PR professional faces is the heavy workload and extremely full schedule. You have to tackle multiple tasks from diversified clients within a very limited timeframe. After having to say many times that “I’m busy, I can’t talk right now” and “Let’s talk about it next time, I don’t have time now”, my parents and friends have begun to wonder: what are you busy doing? What is PR work mainly about? As a rookie in the PR industry, I could give an answer like this: PR is mainly about adding value for clients through diversified communication approaches. And, different from the views that most people have about PR, it actually covers a wide range of knowledge and skills, which include journalism, information and communication technology, customer relationships management, the techniques of establishing and using networks and many more. And, of course, to be a truly professional PR person, you should also have a deep understanding about the clients: their industry, their history, their products and their customers. You might ask, how do you add value for your clients? Well, to explain that, I’d better put a real example here to show some of the work we have done in terms of providing value-added PR services for our clients. The latest example is the CASBAA Convention, the big event that targets digital TV and cable TV content providers, networks operators, related software & hardware security solutions providers in APAC region. Our client Irdeto participated in this event and shared their view on Media 3.0 as one of the important panelists at this event. A picture is worth a thousand words. I’m going to show some pictures taken on site to demonstrate how a professional PR firm adds value for its clients. In order to optimize the effect of media exposure, we identified more than 60 general and trade media domestically and internationally and locked 7 interviews with the Financial Times, South Morning China Post, Ming Pao, Television Asia and other well known media according to the client’s target customers and its market segmentation through continuous communication with journalists and reporters, which effectively highlights the competitive advantages of the client. On the day of the event being held, we arranged the meeting room ourselves because we knew exactly what the most ideal media room should look like. On the other hand, as a professional PR person, we look though the perspective of the customer. We help our client solve every PR related work without spending any extra money. Before each interview, we briefed journalists and reporters to help them build the comprehensive and firm understanding about the client, its products, its regional strategic deployments and its visions so that they could easily find the angles and attractive points for further writing and editing the news and stories.

We are experienced PR consultants. We understand what journalists want to know from a corporate point of view; we also know how a corporate entity should effectively deliver their messages to the public. Therefore with our efforts, the communication between clients and media has became easier, efficient and accurate. We are the experts of utilizing social media to promote the positive business image for the clients. We delivered all valuable contents, including the videos, images and texts of client’s panel discussion and interviews to  well known social media platforms. Believably, the clients and its products as well as their visions on Media 3.0 would be known by millions of people worldwide. Last but not least, we keep close eyes on the media coverage, keep tracking the media coverage with utilization of most advanced media monitoring technologies and therefore could deliver the accurate data to clients to help them get to know the ROI. To sum up, we provide value-added PR services to our clients through helping them efficiently and effectively communicate with the media and ultimately communicate with the targeted customers.
